DOG ZERO

Privacy Policy

What we collect

Your email address (used to sign you in via magic link), your hot dog log (the count per day you record), your display name and username, and any messages you post in the Dog Pile chat.

Identity & default usernames

When you first sign in, we generate a default username from the part of your email before the @ sign, deduplicated against existing usernames if needed. You can change it any time. Your display name, username, season total, badges, and leaderboard rank — including last-place designations — are visible to every other signed-in member. This is not private data by design; it's how the leaderboard and chat @mentions work.

How we use it

Your data is used to show your personal stats, compute your streak and pace, display your rank on the leaderboard, run the season's challenges and badges, and power the Dog Pile chat. We don't sell it, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising.

Dog Pile chat

Chat messages are stored on the same infrastructure as the rest of the app's data, visible to every signed-in member — there is no private messaging. The room is automatically pruned to the newest 500 messages once its history grows past 600. We may remove content that violates the acceptable-use rule in our Terms of Service.

Authentication & cookies

Sign-in is handled via magic link — a one-time link emailed to you. We use Resend for all email delivery, both sign-in links and support messages. No passwords are ever stored. A session cookie is set after you sign in and lasts up to 120 days. We don't use tracking cookies.

Where it's stored

All data is stored on onejsonfile.com, a simple JSON storage service operated by Birch Tree Studio. No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used anywhere in Dog Zero.

Notifications

Features you opt into — such as being @mentioned in chat — may send you notifications (currently email; native push if we ship a mobile app in the future). Declining any such feature doesn't affect your access to the core app.

Data deletion

To delete your account and all associated data — profile, log, chat messages — use the Support page. We'll remove it within 7 days.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised date.
