Terms of Service
Last updated July 22, 2026
The service
Dog Zero is a seasonal hot dog tracker made by Birch Tree Studio, running Memorial Day through Labor Day 2026. It's provided as-is, as a beta product, with no guarantees of uptime, data durability, or feature stability. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time. The season ends on Labor Day; we'll let you know before any archive or reset.
Eat responsibly
Dog Zero is meant to be fun, not a dare. Participation in any logging, challenge, or streak is entirely voluntary — know your own limits and stop whenever you need to. Dog Zero is not medical advice and isn't a substitute for it; if you have any dietary, digestive, or health condition, use your own judgment (and a doctor's, if needed) before deciding how many hot dogs to eat in a day. You assume full responsibility for your own consumption decisions, and Birch Tree Studio is not liable for any health consequences arising from how you choose to play.
Dog Pile chat
Dog Zero includes a shared chat room ("Dog Pile") visible to every signed-in member — there is no private messaging. Messages are stored on our infrastructure and automatically pruned to the newest 500 once the room's history grows past 600. We may remove content or suspend accounts for violations of the acceptable-use rule below. Be decent: no harassment, hate speech, spam, or illegal content. That's the whole rule.
Your identity & visibility
When you sign up, we generate a default username from the part of your email before the @ sign; you can change it any time. Your display name, username, season total, badges, and leaderboard rank — including last-place designations — are visible to every other signed-in member. Everyone signed in can see everyone else's numbers; if you'd rather not be seen, Dog Zero isn't the right app for you.
Your data
You own your data. We store it to run Dog Zero and show you your stats. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect and how.
You can delete your account at any time from your account menu (on the web or in the app). Deletion is permanent: it removes your email, name, and dog log. Because the season is shared, your dogs leave the season when you go — so the leaderboard and past challenge results recompute as if you were never in it. Your chat messages stay in the room but are shown as “Former member.”
Acceptable use
By using Dog Zero you agree not to: attempt to access or modify another user’s data; reverse-engineer the service to extract API tokens or storage keys; scrape, spam, or abuse the API or the chat; or use the service for anything unlawful. Violations may result in immediate removal of content or termination of your account without notice.
No warranty
Dog Zero is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including around the accuracy of streak, pace, or projection calculations (though we try). Birch Tree Studio is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service.
Notifications
Some features you opt into — such as chat mentions — may send you notifications (currently email; native push if we ship a mobile app). You can decline any such feature without losing access to the core app.
Age
You must be at least 13 years old to use Dog Zero.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Changes
We may update these terms as the season progresses. Continued use of Dog Zero after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
